Mercedes-Maybach Reveals Luxury Ocean Club Yacht Concept

Mercedes-Maybach has revealed a new high-end maritime idea called the Maybach Ocean Club. It was shown recently at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show. 

This concept centres on a huge luxury superyacht named Beyond Horizons. Rather than being a regular cruise ship, it is being planned as an exclusive private members’ club at sea. 

The company behind it hopes to find about 300 co-owners who would each get around four weeks’ access onboard per year. Membership would also include access to a community of like-minded people. 

The Beyond Horizons yacht is designed to be roughly 155 metres long and weigh about 15,000 tons. It will have 30 identical large suites, each with its own balcony. Deck space will be open and generous, with areas like an infinity pool and sun decks. 

Mercedes-Maybach says this project expands the brand’s history in marine design. The team behind the yacht includes German naval architects working with the Maybach design team. 

There will also be a secondary support vessel to carry things like water toys, tenders and extra staff, so the main yacht stays focused on members’ comfort. 

They are currently talking to European shipyards about building the yacht, with a targeted first season around 2029. Plans are for the yacht to spend summers in the Mediterranean and winters in places like the Caribbean or Indian Ocean. 

Potential Job Opportunities

If the Maybach Ocean Club becomes a real project, it could create a wide range of jobs at sea. Roles would likely include hotel and hospitality positions such as stewards, housekeeping staff, chefs, waiters and guest services crew, as well as deck officers, engineers and technical staff.

Because this is a luxury private yacht, there would also be demand for experienced crew with strong customer service skills and high standards of professionalism. Projects like this show how work at sea is expanding beyond traditional cruise ships into more exclusive and high-end vessels.
